ABS is probably the most popular plastic for injection molding, that’s why you can find it everywhere; from musical instruments, pipe systems, keyboard caps, Lego, home appliances, to even computer monitors.

ABS filament was one of the first 3D materials to be used with industrial 3D printers. Many years later, ABS is still a very popular 3D filament thanks to its low cost and good mechanical properties. This filament is known for its toughness and impact resistance, it is also a durable and reliable material. One of its benefits also includes temperature stability and better flexibility than PLA.

ABS filament is an acetone-soluble polymer, and therefore can be acetone welded or vapor smoothed. As already mentioned It is very tough – which means it is able to withstand high stress and temperature. These properties together make ABS an excellent 3D printer filament, especially with 3D printed products that are frequently handled, dropped, or heated like phone cases, tool handles, automotive trim components, and electrical enclosures. The 3D printed item made with our ABS spool can resist up to 85 °C, which makes ABS a great choice for outdoor or high-temperature applications.

If you start printing with ABS, be sure to use an open space with good ventilation, as the material tends to have a slight odor. ABS filament also tends to contract quite a bit as it cools, so we recommend using a 3D printer with an enclosure to control the temperature of the environment in which the filament is being printed.
